The analyst surface — products, reasons, refund methods, cohorts, and networks.
The Insights hub is where you go when the question changes from “what should I do right now?” to “what’s actually happening to my returns over time?” It’s the analyst surface, not the operator surface.
Executive summary
The top of the page is an executive summary card — the one-paragraph “what happened this period” with the most important deltas highlighted. Designed to be screenshottable for a Monday morning update.
Five tabs
- Products— Returns by product, product type, and category. Drill into any product to see variant-level breakdown. Product risk map · Product type breakdown · Category breakdown
- Reasons— Free-text return reasons grouped into clusters (sizing, quality, expectations, change-of-mind, etc.). Reason clusters · Reason × Product heatmap
- Refund Methods— Which refund channel customers are taking (refund-to-original, store credit, exchange) and where exchanges out-perform refunds. Refund methods
- Cohorts— Customer cohort analysis: first-time vs. repeat returners, VIPs vs. one-shot buyers, and how each cohort contributes to your overall refund volume.
- Networks— Detected fraud rings: clusters of customers sharing addresses, payment fingerprints, or behaviour patterns. Each ring opens an investigation panel with member list and audit timeline.
Sidebar
- Needs Attention— Prioritised callouts for the current period (e.g. “3 new fraud rings detected”).
- Benchmark card— Your KPIs vs. anonymised peer averages, if you’ve opted into benchmark sharing (Settings → Advanced).
- Top reasons— Quick-reference list of the period’s most common return reasons.
Date filters
Every tab respects the global date-range picker at the top. Presets: Today, 7d, 30d, 90d, or a custom window. The picker supports period comparison — pick two ranges and every chart shows both side-by-side with deltas highlighted. Period comparison guide.
Performance and freshness
Insights queries hit a pre-aggregated rollup, so a 90-day view loads in under two seconds even for shops with thousands of returns. The rollup refreshes hourly; the dashboard and customer pages remain real-time.
Cross-Dimensional
For arbitrary slice-and-dice across two dimensions, use the dedicated Cross-Dimensionalpage — it’s a sibling of Insights in the sidebar, more flexible than the guided tabs above.
